Matthew O’Donnell is a truly amazing, young, talented, country music artist from Furnish, Lettermullen in the native Irish speaking area of Connemara, Co. Galway. He has a distinct ability as a singer, songwriter and musician with amazing performance appeal and charisma. From an early age Matthew was surrounded by many forms of music; his father Bartley is a well-known Country/Folk singer and growing up Matthew participated successfully in many local competitions.
By the age of twelve Matthew found a love for country music and set up his own You Tube Channel and up-loaded videos of his own performances including some of his own self-penned songs. He still regards Garth Brooks as one of his biggest idols and influences and using his native Irish language he translated the Garth Brooks classic 'Callin’ Baton Rouge’ into Irish. A video to accompany the song saw Matthew became a YouTube sensation. The video has been viewed in excess of 200,000 times on YouTube. The people of Baton Rouge loved his version of ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’ resulting in invitations pouring in for him to perform Stateside with many saying his singing was on a par with Garth Brooks
